An interview with our volunteer!

An interview with our volunteer!

We want those who are interested in the activities of our foundation to learn about it from all sides: including our volunteers. Who make a huge contribution to helping those in need. Who devote their free time to this good activity, who see joy and inspiration in their not always simple work. And who energize children, each other and all of us with their bright energy!

Melisa is just such a volunteer. And we would like to share this interview with you.

Below is an interview with our volunteer Melisa, who shares her experience with a foundation that helps children battling cancer.

Question 1: Tell us a little bit about yourself, your main job, and what you do in your spare time.

Melisa:
My name is Melisa. In my daily life, I work as a marketing manager for a large company where I organize events and develop communication strategies. However, in my free time, I find time to dedicate myself to something that is really close to my heart - volunteering. Aside from work and volunteering, I enjoy reading, yoga and traveling, which helps me maintain a balance between my professional and personal life.

Question 2: How and why did you want to start volunteering?

Melisa:
My decision to start volunteering came after learning about the difficulties faced by children with cancer and their families. Seeing them in need of support, attention and care motivated me to make a difference in their lives. I realized that even small gestures of kindness can offer hope and improve the quality of their lives, and for me it became a source of inspiration and strength.

Question 3: What classes do you do most often at the foundation?

Melisa:
My work at the foundation is varied. I take part in organizing charity events and fundraising campaigns, coordinating projects and helping to prepare meetings with the families of our little heroes. In addition, I often organize workshops and creative meetings for children to give them joy and distract them from everyday difficulties.

Question 4: Why exactly do you enjoy this activity?

Melisa:
I like volunteering for its direct dedication and the opportunity to see the result of my efforts. Every smile of a child, every word of gratitude from parents is a real source of joy and motivation. I feel that I am making the world a little kinder, and this fills my life with meaning. Being able to help those who are in such need of support makes every day special.

Question 5: Advice for an aspiring volunteer?

Melisa:
My advice to those who are just starting their volunteering journey is don't be afraid to take the first steps. Be open, ask questions, learn from experienced colleagues and most importantly, listen to your heart. Volunteering is not only about helping others, but also about learning new things about yourself, making friends and filling your life with positivity. Remember, every little bit of help makes a difference.

Question 6: What are the main qualities a volunteer should have?

Melisa:
I believe that a volunteer needs to have empathy, the ability to sympathize and understand others. It is important to be responsible, friendly and to be able to work in a team. It is also important to be able to listen and be willing to learn constantly. These qualities help not only to provide effective assistance, but also to find a common language with people who are going through difficult moments in their lives.

Fundraising is, first of all, about trust, about partnership, about relationships. Whether it is targeted assistance from a private donor, regular business support or grants - everything is important and will work if you are open to the donor, clear and reasoned in your requests, positive and correct in communication and ready to say Thank you for any support”!
